• Applicants seeking to complete a period of practical training, research, or observation in Australia as part of their overseas qualification.

• Training supported by a government agency, either in Australia or the nominee’s home country, to facilitate the training process in Australia.

• Overseas employers send their employees to Australia for professional development programs in managerial or professional skills.

To qualify for the 407 visa, one must meet the following requirements:

• Must be sponsored by an approved temporary activities sponsor.

• Your sponsor must nominate you for training unless they are an Australian Commonwealth Government agency.

• You must be at least 18 years old.

• If you are applying onshore (from Australia), you must hold a valid substantive visa (excluding subclass 403, 771, or special purpose visa). Please note that you must apply within 28 days of your previous visa expiring or after a visa cancellation decision.

• You must meet health and character requirements.

• You must have adequate health insurance to cover your medical treatment and any necessary transport while living in Australia.
