What is an ImmiAccount? What is its purpose?

An ImmiAccount is the official online platform of the Australian Department of Home Affairs. It allows individuals, families, migration agents, and organisations to apply, pay, and manage Australian visas, citizenship, and other immigration services in one secure account.

How to create an ImmiAccount?

You can create an ImmiAccount by following these steps:

Step 1: Go to the official website of the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

Step 2: On the DHA home page, click ImmiAccount, located at the top right.

Step 3: You are now on the ImmiAccount login portal. If you already have an ImmiAccount, enter your credentials and log in. If you do not have one, click Create ImmiAccount at the bottom left of the webpage.

Step 4: Enter your email address and click Send Verification Code.

Step 5: A 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email. Enter the same 6-digit code.

Step 6: You can now create either an Individual ImmiAccount or an Organisation ImmiAccount.

Creating an Individual ImmiAccount

Step 1: Select the Individual radio button, fill in the required information, and click Next.

Step 2: Enter your desired username and password, set three secret questions and answers, read and agree to the terms and conditions, and click Next.

Step 3: Install the Authenticator app and scan the QR code. This will provide a 6-digit unique code that automatically updates every 30 seconds for security reasons. Enter the correct updated code.

Step 4: Your ImmiAccount has now been created successfully.

Creating an Organisation ImmiAccount

Step 1: Select the Organisation radio button and select all the services you require (Online Lodgement, Organisation Account Administration, VEVO for Organisations, LEGENDcom). Fill in the required information and click Next.

Step 2: Enter your desired username and password, set three secret questions and answers, read and agree to the terms and conditions, and click Next.

Step 3: Install the Authenticator app and scan the QR code. This will provide a 6-digit unique code that automatically updates every 30 seconds for security reasons for your ImmiAccount. Enter the correct updated code.

Step 4: Your ImmiAccount has now been created successfully.

What can you do with an ImmiAccount?

Apply for many Australian visas and citizenship. However, not every visa can be applied for through ImmiAccount.
Upload documents, pay fees, and track application progress.
Import, share, and send applications to another account.
Update personal and account details.
Receive departmental updates and respond to requests for additional information.

The limitations of an ImmiAccount

You cannot apply for an ETA through ImmiAccount. Use the separate Australian ETA app instead.
You cannot check citizenship applications lodged using forms 1300t or 1290 before 17 April 2015.
Each application can only be imported into an ImmiAccount up to three times.
Not all applications are eligible for import into ImmiAccount. If an application cannot be imported, follow the Department of Home Affairs instructions for managing it or seek assistance from the Department.
MFA is mandatory. You cannot log in or make account changes without an authentication code.
